We take all reasonable steps to protect the privacy of the personal information that we collect, use, store or disclose.

Personal information

Personal information is any information that can be used to identify you.

We collect personal information only to the extent necessary to effectively and properly conduct our business and as required by law.

The information we collect depends on our relationship with you (eg client, staff member, volunteer, member, supplier, donor). We will use and disclose information for the purposes for which it was collected.

We do not sell or rent people’s personal information to third parties.

Any disclosure of personal information is made either under the terms for which it was collected, as required by law or to comply with a legally-required process (eg audit), or with your consent. We contract out some functions (eg accounts, information technology) and we may disclose your personal information to these contractors but only so that they can provide the services for which they are engaged. Contractors are bound by privacy law and confidentiality agreements with us.

Hard copy records stored on site and those stored off-site in archive facilities are physically secured from unauthorised access by key-lock and alarm systems. Access to electronic files is protected by password access to all computers, a firewall for the computer network and anti-virus systems. All contractors, staff and volunteers are bound by confidentiality agreements.

Information no longer required to be kept is disposed of securely either by shredding or permanent erasure of electronic records.

You are entitled to request details of your personal information held by us. Please contact our privacy officer or the relevant staff member and we will deal with your request as quickly as practicable, consistent with the Privacy Act and Principles. If you request us to do so, we will amend any personal information about you that is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date.

Financial transactions

Payments made direct to us over this website are via technology provided by eWAY. Your payment details are securely transmitted to the eWAY payment gateway, encrypted by eWAY and then passed on to our internet merchant facility (IMF) provided by Westpac for authorisation of the credit card. The IMF then communicates to your credit card issuer to confirm the validity of the card and availability of sufficient funds, after which the result of the transaction is sent to eWAY. An email receipt is then sent to you and to us.

Your credit card details are not provided to us (unless you provide them to us yourself). If you use another donation facility on this site, eg Give Now or Everyday Hero, similarly your details are protected by the terms of those facilities and your credit card details are not passed on to us; and your name and address is only provided to us with your consent. We will use these details only to thank you or to send you a receipt, or to any further extent to which you separately consent.

Transaction currency AUD

All transactions are processed in Australian dollars (AUD).

However, it should be noted that the internet is not a perfectly secure environment and although all care is taken, we cannot guarantee the security of information you provide to us or other parties via electronic means.
