fundraising

Fundraising is governed by the Charitable Fundraising Act 1991 and regulations. There are strict rules and guidelines about the conduct of fundraising activities by charities. Cat Protection holds an Authority to Fundraise under the Act (CFN14820).

Activities and events carried out by individuals or businesses to raise money for Cat Protection are governed by the ‘third party fundraising’ provisions of the Act and regulations. These conditions can be quite complex and sometimes the administrative cost of compliance outweighs the financial benefit of the activity or event. As a small charity, we don’t have the resources to economically manage a lot of third party fundraising.

Everyday Hero is a website facility designed to help individuals and groups legally and efficiently fundraise for charities like us.

Using the facilities of Everyday Hero, you can create your own fundraising page and events, post your own images and stories and enlist the support of family, friends, colleagues – even total strangers – to donate to Cat Protection.

You don’t collect or handle any money: your sponsors donate via Everyday Hero and receive a valid tax receipt directly from Everyday Hero. Everyday Hero remits the funds (less a small fee) to us. Donations to Cat Protection are tax deductible.

You can create your own Hero page, or you can get together a team. You can elect to support Cat Protection by getting sponsorship for participating in events like the Sun-Herald City to Surf or you can create your own event. The only limit is your imagination!

Have fun, be creative and help our kitties purr  >^..^<
